First of All - Open Your Survey


From the main program menu bar, choose FILE and then click OPEN, or click the OPEN button on the main program toolbar as circled below.

The last form design you worked on will always be loaded when you first start the program. You can also see a list of the last few designs that you have worked on from the FILE menu.

Sample Survey Templates

In the evaluation there are a good range of sample survey designs, some of which can be purchased as a fully working survey templates. Open any of these from the FILE menu or look in the SAMPLES folder (open the .Q file not the folder).

Saving Your Own Designs

You can design ANY form you wish with this easy to use system. We recommend you save your own designs in the SURVEYS folder. You can save you designs in any folder on you PC or your network.

Step 1 - Running your Survey Design


From the main program menu bar, choose QUESTIONNAIRE and then click RUN, or click the RUN button on the main program toolbar as circled below.

This will run the survey form design on the handheld simulator as shown below. The display on a real pocket PC looks much the same and also has the benefit of being a touch screen.

Step 2 - Entering Data


Answering Questions

Follow through the survey on the handheld simulator collecting data as required. In Directed mode you follow through the questions in order but have the ability to back up if you change your mind. In Random mode the user does not have a set path in which the questions must be answered.

Click OK to complete a question.

Question Types

As you follow through the survey you will see a mixture of different types of questions such as, text entry, single choice menus, multiple choice menus, numeric etc.

A unique feature of PocketSurvey is the ability to navigate your survey in a random mode.

Intelligent Forms

In the enterprise version there are a full range of question types including calculations, lookup of external schedules, jumps and skips, enabling you to produce intelligent forms without complicated programming!

Finishing

When you have finished answering questions for one pass of your survey you will be prompted to enter another Survey identifier.

Click the QUIT button to exit the survey and stop collecting data.

Repeating

If you wish to run the data collection forms again, to collect another set of data, simply choose RUN from the handheld simulator menu as shown below choosing the survey you wish to use.

Multiple Data Collection Forms

You can have many different data collection forms on the handheld. The full development system lets you create as many data collection forms as you need.

Step 3 - Receiving Results


From the main program menu bar, choose HANDHELD and then click RECEIVE RESULTS, or click the RECEIVE RESULTS button on the main program toolbar as circled below.

Note. This option retrieves results from the simulator, or your handheld if you are using one. When you collect more data from multiple runs of your form design, you can choose to append your results to collect data from multiple mobile workers.

Note. At this stage you could import the data into any other database system or see the collected data via TOOLS|QUICK EDITOR where you will see the data in Excel. However, most users use our powerful Data Doctor component.

Step 4 - Data Doctor

The Data Doctor allows you to view and edit data and for more advanced users creates statistical reports from your collected data in a simple and efficient way.

To launch the Data Doctor click the DATA button from the main program menu bar.

Viewing Data

In the Data Doctor you can see your data in a simple spreadsheet view. You can edit individual cells by double clicking on them and changing the data in the pop up box.

Editing Data

In the Data Doctor you can edit your data by selecting the data, and clicking FORM. In the form double click on exactly what you want to change, and then replace the data.

Analysing Data

In order to create a data report you must first build your data in the Data Analyst. To run the analyst click the button analyst circled below.

The Data Analyst allows a fast and efficient method of producing self designed reports. Choose what you want to display, save and name your report and then click the SHOW REPORT button circled below.

The report you generate will display the data you selected in the Data Analyst. Reports tend to illustrate specific points about the data more effectively in a more user friendly way.
