Notes: Using the Form View Exercise

You are going to learn how to edit data in your database using the Form View.

  1. Click the Form button from the toolbar.

Notice the database has changed to the tripane form view.

The top left pane displays each property identifier.

The bottom left pane displays the items within each property.

The right hand pane displays the details of each property i.e. address, building type, status.

  1. In the top left pane, select a Property ID.

Notice the other two window panes change data to reflect the Property ID you have selected.

  1. In the right hand pane, double click the value 'Fine' in the Weather field name.
  2. Click the drop down arrow and select 'Raining' from the list.
  3. Click OK.

The asterix by the Weather field value indicates that this field value has been amended.

Three buttons at the bottom of the right hand pane prompt you to Insert, Apply or Abandon the changes. Click Apply.

  1. You can use the Form view to insert new duplicate records into your database.

In the right hand pane, double click the Property ID value. Change the ID to read 'Test ID'. Click OK.

  1. Click the Insert button at the button of the window pane.

The 'Test ID' record has been added to your database.


The Form view is useful for amending your collected data in a fast and efficient manner.
